Bensaude Hotels celebrates nine decades of activity

Institutional

This Sunday, 20 April, Bensaude Hotels celebrated nine decades in business. The Group began its journey in the hotel industry in 1935 with the opening of the Terra Nostra Garden Hotel. The date marks a starting point for a new stage, focusing on the expansion and development of tourism in the region, centred on three strategic axes: excellence, sustainability and hospitality.

Located in the Furnas Valley and part of the Parque Terra Nostra, the Terra Nostra Garden Hotel is the result of a movement started by the Terra Nostra Society, founded in 1933 to promote tourism in São Miguel. Vasco Bensaude was one of the investors in this society, along with Augusto Arruda, Albano da Ponte and other notable Azoreans. The so-called Hotel Terra Nostra quickly became a landmark in the history of the archipelago, catalysing tourism in the region.

The celebration of 90 years represents the recognition of a legacy, but also the start of a new cycle, aimed at strategic growth, geographical diversification and the affirmation of the Bensaude Hotels brand as a benchmark in the national hotel sector.
